Ocean Ceramics
Life in and around ocean water is another world, another home. The forms we find there range from fluid flesh to hard shells, spirals and stars, fins and scales. I have long loved the many spiral forms of mollusks and also have loved the challenge of creating that full, growing feeling in clay. The anagama firing seems to enhance those forms and makes each one even more unique. The expressiveness of starfish, reaching and grasping in the only ways they are able, delights me; they are little mimes. I offer the porcelain starfish here with a notecard of gratitude (blank inside); you can give the little critter and the card to someone who has made a difference for you.
