Redwood Forest Sculptures

Forests shelter and nurture a lush variety of species. which interact, communicate with and depend upon each other. They co-evolved over countless millennia to enhance each other’s survival. We have much to learn from them. I live near the edge of Oregon’s fir, cedar, and hemlock forests, under the shade of Oregon White Oaks, and trees are my teachers.

The redwood groves in Northern California are startlingly beautiful, and I am especially inspired by the exposed roots of the fallen giants blown over in storms. Shallow and spreading, the roots have an off-beat radial symmetry, an earthy starburst that I find exuberantly life-affirming, even as the tree returns to the soil to nurture future generations.

Many of these wall pieces have delicate “ferns” made by dipping moss into colored porcelain slip.

These will be carefully packaged for shipping. Please don’t touch the ferns as they can break.
