Basalt/Lava Form 1
Deep below volcanoes, molten rock is in transformation. When it comes to the surface, it flows as hot lava, quick cooling in a texture that reveals its motion. Or, it cools very slowly underground, and forms gigantic columns of basalt. I feel the tension between the flowing lava and the slowly maturing basalt crystals.
East Creek Anagama, reduction cooled 9” length x 7” diameter.
